My TOS :
I just returned from a doctor who advised me that I might be suffering from TOS. Five years ago, I had a numbness/beesting feeling on my left index finger. (I am right hand dominant) I have gone through the complete gamut of tests from Carpel Tunnel, compressed discs in my neck, and a series of other possible explanations of what may be causing the pain. About one year ago the pain had become much more severe spreading to my thumb, palm and the remaining fingers (little finger has been fine). I am also having the pain starting now in my right hand. I have difficulty sleeping at night from the constant ache and both hands falling asleep, although, sometimes I awaken and I am fine for a short while, sometimes even a few hours. The pain will reach a 7-8 on the 1-10 scale and it has been making me feel neurotic. My latest doctor did the “Hands up” test and stated that the circulation in my left hand stopped when my hand was raised. He suspects TOS and has scheduled me for another MRI and a specific nerve conduction test that should identify the location of the compressed nerve. I hope that the source of this is found and that something can be done to stop the pain. I am sick of painkillers and I would like my left hand back. I have not had the MRI or the latest nerve conduction test, but I was wondering if these symptoms sound what any of you have experienced? Please write back. This site has been fantastic as far as learning that I am not alone in this and that there are others going through the same. I am sick of asking myself if the pain is real or if it is all in my head. Thanks for hearing me out and I hope someone who has had the same or similar experience writes me back. Thanks again. Ernie.
