My TOS :
I was first diagnosed as having TOS in 2001. It was only my right side and very intermitent. I filled out the workers compensation forms and they sent a new specialist from interstate to have a look. I was told I didn't have TOS, I had something but he didn't know what. Thus the roundabout commenced. After having seen 16 specialists I was diagnosed as having Cubital Tunnel Syndrome early last year. In the middle of the year I started with symptoms on my left side as well. I was booked in for surgery and being the coward I am went for a second opinion first. This time I was told I definetly had TOS and that the CTS surgery was out of the question. This doctor recommended the very first specialist I saw. Rediagnosed as having TOS. I have commenced a three month swimming program, pilates (one on one) and weekly physiotherapy. Had my first Pilates session last week and was told that I was looking at a long slow process as I know had tissue damage. My arms are swollen - permanently. I have trouble getting through my normal day to day living, let alone work. I am on four hour days, five days a week. I feel awful that I can't complete my normal work duties, let alone housework and playing with my son. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband who really seems to understand. Since commencing the swimming I have had more pain and tingling.
