My TOS :
Hi, I was diagnosed with tos in 1999. My tos was caused by the therapy I was recieving for a lower spine injury. The therapy did nothing for my spinal injury but it sure did a number on my upper spine. I have had both right and left rib resections done. Both were complete failures due to an abnormal amount of scar tissue buildup. I still kept hoping that something could help me until I saw Dr. Nelems on August 7, 2005. He informed me that I was as good as I would ever be and that it could get worse but never better. For me the surgery is too dangerous to do over to remove the scar tissue as it will just build up again probably worse. He said that I had to learn to live with the disability I am left with and try to find a way that works for me to control the pain. Haven,t managed to do that yet. I am glad I found this site as now I don,t feel so alone with this. I am still trying to deal with the fact that I will never be able to play with my grandchildren the way I want to. Or even to hold them as I wish I could. My whole life has been forever changed by this condition. I am waiting to hear if I will recieve a disability pension from wcb. I don,t know what I will do if the ones who caused this won,t help me.My prayers go out to each and every one of you who is struggling with this each and every day. I am fortunate that I have a wonderful support system in my family, without them my life would be very much more difficult. I thank you all for the support you provide for each other.
